All packed and ready to go!

My bags are packed and I'm ready to go...Not sure if I should even try to go to sleep tonight since I have to get up at 3:30am and have to be at the airport at 4:30 am....uuuuugh! I am not a morning person so this will be very painful, but then I think of meeting my girls in Miami and heading to Turks & Caicos for some Caribbean bliss. I have packed some fun jewelry to wear and a gift for my girlfriends....a special pair of earrings for each of them. I can't wait to share with you my pictures...until then be well and creative!

I am counting down the days

Three more sleeps and I am going on a "Girlfriend" vacation, Yahoo! I am meeting three of my good friends in Miami and then we are all on a connecting flight to Providenciales one of the islands of Turks & Caicos in the Caribbean. I love the Caribbean and I am looking forward to having some great fun with my girls and exploring an Island I have yet to travel to. One of my friends that I am traveling with is a travel agent and got a us an amazing deal to stay at the all inclusive resort of "Beaches". No wallet needed on this trip, how cool is that?

...and their off!

One of my favorite sounds is the sound of galloping horses, preferably many of them as they race around the track. I have a love hate relationship with the sport of horse racing (but I won't get into that). Today I met some friends at Kentucky Downs Race Track, it is just a few miles away from my home. Kentucky Downs is America's only European style race coarse...it boasts a lush turf track and once a year in September for a few days they run live races. This is not a fancy event, more like a "Country Fair", not many fancy hats or suits to be found here, more like cowboy boots and hats. I don't usually have much luck in the betting department but it is a fun event. Thankfully the rain showers did no harm today and the only mishap was a thrown jockey and a runaway horse (no injuries, but lots of chuckles).

Readable Art Typewriter Key Jewelry

Found treasures are given a new life.
Anytime I can create something from an item that is of no use anymore or is destined to be thrown out is a good thing...I am all for it! I love typewriters...for their form and creative fonts, to me they are piece of art.

Authentic typewriter keys recycled from antique and vintage typewriters are used to create this wonderful one of a kind bracelet, consisting of random letters, numbers and expressions. Keys are mounted in a sterling setting and connected with a series of strong jump rings. A large lobster clasp is used as a closure. A colorful polymer clay bead and hand stamped sterling tag is added. Bracelet measures: 7 1/2". You can find this bracelet in my ArtFire shop. Custom orders accepted. While my bracelets are sturdy, they are not waterproof and should not be worn swimming or doing the dishes, but please wear them everywhere else!

"What's Your Type?" Sterling typewriter key pendant with your choice of letter, number or expression with sterling typewriter charm.

Typewriter key pendants with an industrial look.

Have a great weekend!

Take me dancing earrings...

I am still working with beads and findings that I received from ArtBeads.com as part of their blogging program. Here we have a pair of "Take me dancing" earrings... Created using Artbeads Swarovski crystal pearls in the Bordeaux color and crystal roundelles . I love using these roundelles, they give a wonderful sparkle and a vintage look to any piece. To attach the beads to the ear wire I used another versatile component and that is a silverplated channel link in jet. I really like the way it makes the earring dangle while adding a little more sparkle. Modern sterling ear wires make these earrings very chic. Be sure to check out ArtBeads.com for all of your Swarovski elements...you can not go wrong with FREE SHIPPING on all items.

Have a seat...

I love clipart, especially antique etchings. Here are some of my favorites...I also can not resist buying a great old chair. I actually have several of these, the wicker one is my favorite and sits on my porch. Which is your favorite?

Wishing you all a wonderful day full of all good things!

Heart of a Cowgirl

Since my post yesterday of Susan Boyle's haunting rendition of The Rolling Stones "Wild Horses", (which by the way I can not stop listening too), I am continuing with this horse theme.

I want to share with you this wonderful blog called "Heart of a Cowgirl". Every time I read Bridget's blog it brings a smile to my face...she has the best pictures and cute stories. She is a jewelry designer and a supporter of Equine Voices Rescue and Sanctuary as well as Heartland Rabitt rescue. Besides having horses she has lots of bunnies...just wait until you see those pictures! She lives a true cowgirl life. What is a cowgirl?...well I think Dale Evans put it best-

"Cowgirl is an attitude, really. A pioneer spirit, a special American brand of courage. The cowgirl faces life head on, lives by her own lights, and makes no excuses. Cowgirls take stands. They speak up. They defend the things they hold dear. A cowgirl might be a rancher, or a barrel racer, or a bull rider, or an actress. But she's just as likely to be a checker at the local Winn Dixie, a full-time mother, a banker, an attorney, or an astronaut." - Dale Evans Rogers, Los Angeles, 1992

Also in Bridget's spare time she helps her good friend Marjorie embellish cowgirl aprons and purses, they are just awesome and you can check them out on Etsy at Cowgirl Goods.... So hop on over (no pun intended) to check out "The Heart of a Cowgirl", you will be so glad you did.

Wild Horses

I just found this link on Twitter and had to listen....Wow! I think her version is amazing and haunting, I can't stop listening to it!

Susan Boyle Covers Rolling Stones Wild Horses

by Paul Cashmere - September 14 2009

The first single from the forthcoming debut album from Susan Boyle is indeed an interesting choice. She has covered the Rolling Stones `Wild Horses`.

The original Stones version was from the 1970 ‘Sticky Fingers’ album.

Boyle has taken the Stones acoustic track and reinvented it into a haunting Tori Amoseque version.

The album will be released in November and last week outsold the new Whitney Houston album on presales alone at Amazon.com.

Have a listen to Susan Boyle singing Wild Horses here:

One Love...

Sometime this past week I read a blog and they referred to Bob Marley's song "One Love"...ever since then I have not gotten this song out of my head. I knew I had to create something with those words, so here you have it...

O
ne Love, One Heart
Let's get together and feel all right
Hear the children crying (One Love)
Hear the children crying (One Heart)
Sayin' give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right
Sayin' let's get together and feel all right

Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One Love)
There is one question I'd really like to ask (One Heart)
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own?
Believe me

One Love, One Heart
Let's get together and feel all right
As it was in the beginning (One Love)
So shall it be in the end (One Heart)
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right
One more thing

Let's get together to fight this Holy Armageddon (One Love)
So when the Man comes there will be no no doom (One Song)
Have pity on those whose chances grove thinner
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation

Sayin' One Love, One Heart
Let's get together and feel all right
I'm pleading to mankind (One Love)
Oh Lord (One Heart)

Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right
Let's get together and feel all right
